About me:

Alistair Mayor – Integral Counsellor

It is understandable to ask what does that mean; what is integral? what constitues being a counsellor? who is Alistair Mayor?

Here i’ll give you some back ground on me, my work, and my training.

As with everyone i’m on a journey to really find out who i am, and one of the best ways to find out is to book an appointment and come and see for yourself – in the mean time i’ll answer some of my questions and you can take it from there.

Who am I?

I live and work in Brighton. I have a private practice where i work with individuals and groups to promote understanding and change.

I tutor for the Counselling & Psychotherapy Training Academy in Brighton delivering; introduction to counselling, counselling skills, and Level 4 counselling diploma.
As well i deliver experiential training in shame, substance misuse, solution focused therapy, and working with men.

I am the founder of SuperDads; activities and parenting support for men with children – for which i facilitate groups, organise events, and run trips for men and their children (See the SuperDads page for more details)

What is counselling?

A safe place to explore yourself. A relationship which is safe enough to talk about and look around your world, what works, what doesn’t.

What led you to live this way with these people?

How would you like it to be?

And how to make changes; both here and now in the relationship with me as your counsellor, and with those around you, friends, colleagues, loved ones.

What is integral?

Fully i would call myself an integrative integral counsellor and coach.

Integrative is an approach which brings all disciplines of counselling together in a unique mix; unique for you, and for me – it comes out of the belief that we can only work in our own way and to do that to the best of my ability is my aim. I am trained in Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Person Centred schools and utilise techniques from psychodynamic, solution focussed, and trans-personal among others.

I combine these perspectives within an Integral framework – from the work of Ken Wilber the integral model gives a framework which brings together aspects of the mind, body, and spirit – taking into account what goes on with in (emotions/thoughts/beliefs), outside (nutition, exercise, ability), and in relationship with others and the world around us.

What this means is i will work with you; where you are, with the the tools needed to get you to where you want to be – accepting that you are where you are meant to be right now, and from that place you have many possibilities and choices.
